Carol Rzadkiewicz
Carol Rzadkiewicz, Featured Writer, earned her BA (major in English; minor in secondary education) then her MA in English at the University of West Georgia. Following a career in journalism, both in the private sector and the United States Naval Reserves, she entered the field of education after completing her master's and has now been a college instructor for almost fifteen years, including the last seven-plus years teaching for the University of Phoenix in its worldwide online program.
Carol Rzadkiewicz is also a freelance writer, editorial consultant, and fiction author, whose work has appeared in a variety of journals, magazines, and other publications, both print and online, including Santa Fe Writer’s Project Literary Journal, Daily Advertiser, Toasted Cheese, Zine5, The Eclectic, The New Review, The Remington Review, The Sun, and South Lit; and Brown Paper Publishing serialized her collection of short stories, The Second Coming and Other Stories, in Predicate Literary Journal in 2008.
She also has three published novels to her credit: Mustang Summer, which was released in January 2008; Objects Are Closer Than They Appear, which sprang from her short story of the same title and was released in August 2009 by Woodlord Publishing of the United Kingdom; and Separate but Equal, a quarter-finalist in the 2009 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest, which was released in August 2010, also by Woodlord Publishing.
On a more personal note, Carol is an avid gardener, cook, and reader, who enjoys staying in shape through weight-training, bicycling, and hiking. She is also an animal lover and has always owned dogs, cats, and horses (She says her animal companions have really owned her, though), and when younger Carol competed in western horse shows and even a few rodeos. She also enjoys movies, although she prefers movies with believable plots and well-developed, sympathetic characters and refuses to watch movies containing gratuitous violence and language, as well as scatological humor. Not that she's a prude; she simply likes to think she has discerning taste in movies.
